How to Dress Business Casual
Updated: Apr 14, 2020
I have wanted to film this video for sooooo long! I know dressing business casual is something that definitely took me some time to learn and is also something I know a lot of people struggle with/have questions about. Having worked and interned in both Washington, DC and New York City over the past 4 years I have learned so much about how to dress appropriately in the workplace. I hope this video helps you if you have questions about how to dress business casual or just need some ideas on what to wear! xo
The Blazer
Everyone needs a good blazer. It doesn't matter who you are, a good blazer can automatically dress up any look and make it look more professional and clean cut. I like wearing blazers with skinny jeans or khakis depending on what type of work environment I am going to be in.

Sweaters Sweaters will become your best friend when you begin to dress business casual. Like I said in the video they are so incredibly versatile and can be worn so many different ways. My go to look with sweaters is black dress pants, a black camisole, and any color sweater.

A Good Blouse/Shirt Similar to sweaters a good shirt will come in extremely handy when dressing business casual. They can be worn on their own, under sweaters, and also under blazers. I suggest getting ones in neutral colors so that they can go with everything (it makes getting dressed so much easier). And again depending on what type of work environment you are in a nice blouse can also be worn over skinny jeans and look very professional.

The Midi Dress I cannot say enough good things about midi dresses. They are so easy! Especially on those days when you just really don't feel like trying, it really makes it look like you put a lot of effort in. This silhouette is also very flattering on so many different body types. This is the perfect grab-and-go type of outfit for any wardrobe.

The Little Black Dress I talked about this in my Top 5 Wardrobe Essentials video. You cannot go wrong with a little black dress. It is such a classic and timeless look (plus it is super easy). Similar to the midi dress it is such a versatile option for everyone. You can dress it up or down and look amazing either way.
